Carolyn Ann Connell

On October 7, 2023, Carolyn Ann Connell, 71, of Shelby Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home. Carolyn was born on September 29, 1952 in Warren, MI, to Harold and Stella Schollard. Patrick and Carolyn married in Detroit, Michigan in 1974, 49 years ago. They moved to Warren, Michigan in 1977, where they raised their children, Kimberly, Ruth and Jeffery. In 2004, they moved to their home in Shelby Township, in which they enjoyed many happy days entertaining family and friends. Gathering the family for birthdays and holidays was very important to her, where she could be creative in decorating and making delicious food. Carolyn was primarily a homemaker who was talented at making custom cakes out of the home. In later years, she was a grocery merchandiser with her husband. Over the years, Carolyn and her family enjoyed many camping trips in Michigan and throughout the United States while also traveling to the UK and Canada. She loved being up north in Michigan, but her favorite vacation spot was Key West, Florida, where she could enjoy sunshine and fresh seafood. Singing was one of Carolyn's passions and she was very active in the church choirs at St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church, St. Blase Catholic Church, and St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She enjoyed studying family genealogy for herself and others and volunteered her skills to research history and photographs for the Packard Proving Grounds in Utica, Michigan. Carolyn's two grandchildren, Landon and Lillian, were her stars. She did so much to make life fun and special for them; they were together every week. Carolyn was predeceased by her father Harold Schollard and her mother Stella Schollard. She is survived by her loving husband Patrick Connell; dear children Kimberly Connell, Ruth Connell (Banas) and Jeffery Connell; as well as her cherished grandchildren Landon Banas and Lillian Banas; she is also survived by her sisters Patricia (Gary) Bilyk and Susan (Joseph) Ciaravino; she is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces.
