Janice Rex

Janice “Jan” Rex (Vieau), 69, of Roseville, passed away June 24, 2020 with her loving family by her side. She was born to the late Louis and Lelah Vieau and graduated from Roseville High School in 1968. She married the late Lewis Rex in 1991. Jan is survived by four children: Kristine (Bryan) Buero, of Sterling Heights; Matthew (Mary Jean) Hoffmeyer, of Vista, CA; Leann (Michael) Wilk, of Royal Oak; and Jacob Rex, of Roseville. She is also survived by her grandchildren Sarah Buero, Brandon Buero, Anna Hoffmeyer, Joseph Wilk and Angell Milodrowski. Jan is fondly remembered by her siblings Michael (Donna) Vieau and Ann Thompson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Jan was predeceased by her loving husband in 2009. Jan will always be remembered for her encouraging, loving spirit and her faith in God. She was known for her take-charge, can-do attitude and was the first to offer help to anyone in need. She was an active member of The Woods Church, volunteering in various capacities. She impacted countless people by leading the GriefShare Group for many years and considered her Church as her family. Jan held a number of professions throughout her lifetime but her favorite was being a Preschool teacher at Warren Woods Christian School & Preschool since 2009. “Ms. Jan” will be forever known for her gentle and loving care and end of the school year pool parties with her students and their families. She was the family party hostess. Whether it was a Sunday dinner, Saturday barbecue, Birthday, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas, it was at Jan’s house, and the food was delicious and abundant. She was happiest when she was planning a gathering that would bring her two passions together: her family and cooking. Jan loved to cook and was given the endearing nickname of “Gadget Jan” for her extensive collection of kitchen tools and gadgets. Jan absolutely loved being surrounded by people that she loved. Her family will always treasure the memories of their annual summer trips to Lake Huron together. She enjoyed collecting thimbles and spoons throughout her travels with family. A Celebration of Jan’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday August 29, 2020 at The Woods Church (14300 13 Mile Road) in Warren, Michigan with Pastor John MacDonald officiating. All are welcome to come and share memories.
