Mary Douglas August 21, 1929 – December 14, 2022 Age 93 of Sterling Heights, MI Beloved wife of the late Howard Douglas and Henry P. Kondrat Beloved Mother of Cynthia (Jerry) Baran, Margaret Lien (Ron Barnes), and Henry (Donna) Kondrat, Step Mother to David Douglas (Jackie Dimmer) Grandmother of Jason (Christina) Baran, Jaime (Christopher) Hosey, Kristen (Jason) Thibault, Jennifer (Erik) Ciebiera, Kari Lien (Benjamin Kepler), Kelly (James) Ford, Danielle Kondrat, Matthew (Melanie) Kondrat, Rachel Douglas (Brian Terbrack) and Steven (Jenny Ertman) Douglas. Great Grandmother of Paityn and Scarlett Baran, Ryan, Evan, and Sean Hosey, Ellie, Sofie, and Avery Thibault, Logan and James Ciebiera, Luka Kepler, Easton and Hollyn Ford, and Noah and Marlize Kondrat. Preceded in death by parents Stephen and Josephine Baczkowski, sister Cassie Gularski, and brother Stephen Backowski. Mary enjoyed a fulfilling 93 years surrounded by her big family and her faith. She had a huge heart that was full of positivity and lots of love to give. She was the most positive person and found the good in everything and everyone. Every day she spoke to her children to “check in” and make sure they were ok. Birthdays were never missed; she always called to sing “happy birthday” in English and in Polish. She loved gathering for family parties and would bring her well known golabki, pierogi, and meatballs. Her home was full of photos of her loved ones, plants, religious artifacts, and a plethora of crocheted items. Rosaries were in abundance; she had one on her at all times. She prayed it daily, if not more. Prayers were said for everyone; it didn’t matter if she knew you or not. A large portion of her life was spent being involved in various capacities at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, The Rosary Society and The Senior Club. Donating to churches, charities, and missionaries was very important to her. Mary was a perfect example of how to live and love like Jesus. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed. Please join in the celebration of her life. Visitation will be held at E J Mandziuk & Son Funeral (3801 18 Mile Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48314) on Monday, December 19th, 2022. Family at 2:00pm and friends from 3:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at SS. Cyril & Methodius Slovak Catholic Church (41233 Ryan Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48314) 11:00am visitation 12:00pm mass. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Glenmary Missions, SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, or St. Hyacinth in her honor.
