Omelyan Stasiuk

Omelyan Stasuk was born on April 7, 1958, in Stryi, Ukraine to Myron and Evstachia Stasuk. He grew up in a family of educators and was the older brother to his sister, Victoria. Inspired by his parents’ dedication to teaching, Omelyan followed in their footsteps, developing a strong commitment to education from an early age. He began his schooling in 1965, where he not only excelled academically but also developed a passion for sports—especially boxing, which he greatly enjoyed. After completing grade school in 1975, he pursued higher education at a pedagogical university, earning his degree as a teacher of physics and mathematics. In 1981, Omelyan married the love of his life, Oksana. Together, they built a strong and loving family. A year after their marriage, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Julia, followed six years later by their son, Andriy. Omelyan worked as a teacher at a local college, where he shared his knowledge and inspired many students. Later, he ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing his own small business. In 2000, Omelyan and Oksana made the courageous decision to move to the United States to begin a new chapter in their lives. Like many immigrants, he took on a variety of jobs, adapting with resilience and determination. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life—hunting, fishing, gardening, and caring for animals. Omelyan was a lively and humorous man whose warmth and personality touched everyone he met. Both children and adults were drawn to his sense of humor and kind spirit. He deeply loved his wife and children, cherished his granddaughters, and was a loyal and caring friend to many. Omelyan’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and dedication to family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. The family will greet friends at Mandziuk & Son Funeral Directors of Sterling Heights on March 27, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral service on March 28, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hamtramck, Michigan. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
