Ronald A. Maisonneuve

Ronald Arthur Maisonneuve, 87, returned to His heavenly home on February 29, 2024. His devotion to his family and firm belief in God as an active Knight with the Knights of Columbus for 60 years supported him in his struggles and ultimately brought him peace. Ronald was born to the late Armand and Alice Maisonneuve, in Detroit, Michigan on October 4, 1936. He married Sylvia Catherine Sokloski on October 11, 1958. Together they moved to California where he served in the Navy. He was a cook on a submarine, leaving behind a legacy of shared experiences, remembered for his contributions to the tight-knit community below the waves. While navigating the world of textile and drapery sales industry with various companies, he raised two children, Craig and Kim. The family took many memorable camping trips with their travel trailer. He offered a steadfast support for his son’s hockey pursuits and his daughter’s involvement in gymnastics, dance and piano. He thoroughly enjoyed attending his grandsons’ many extracurricular activities including hockey, soccer, golf and basketball. Ronald was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sylvia Catherine (Sokloski) Maisonneuve and is survived by his son Craig (Carol) Maisonneuve; daughter Kim (John) LaFond; his three grandsons Daniel (Kelly) Maisonneuve, Matthew (fiancé Sarah Ottman) Maisonneuve, and Andre LaFond. Last year in July he was elated to have become a great grandfather to Daniel and Kelly’s daughter Kenna Grace Maisonneuve. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for those at Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby where he resided for the last four months. He found joy in the company of the friendly staff, forging connections with local residents through dining, bingo and poker gatherings. The exceptional care extended by his niece and goddaughter Janine Maisonneuve and the dedicated Homestead Care staff proved to be a profound blessing during this time, for which the family is deeply grateful. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations in Ronald’s name to continue the unwavering support both he and Sylvia extended over the years to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to their hearts.
