Loving father of Martin, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Perkola, Christopher (Coleen), Cathryn (Raymond) Rutkowski, Kevin (Sarah), Kenneth, and the late Judy and four step-children Vic (Peggy), Vida (Mark), Ron, and Renee (Ferran). Beloved husband of the late Aldona. Dearest grandfather of Erika (Nick), Aaron, Kristina, Kyle, Connor, Victoria, Alex, Zach, Luke, Ashlynn, Evah, Ashley, Julie, Estelle, Lindsey, Kyle, Chad, Connor, Luke, and predeceased by Eric and Ryan. Cherished great-grandfather of Lucy, Reese, Reid, Dylan, Alana, Luna, and Oden. Survived by his first wife Delphine Bartkowicz Tessmar. Predeceased by his parents Bernard and Helene Tessmar. John was good to all people. He was a good Christian and a great dad who loved his country and had a keen interest in the social sciences like history (especially the Civil War), archeology, anthropology, geography, classical music, and art. He loved to fish, hike, play cards, and read books and was a dedicated and resolute super fan of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions his entire life. He will most be remembered for his sense of humor, his intuition, and that he believed in being fair and just. He will be missed by many.
