Joseph Anthony Niedbala Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joseph Niedbala, 95, of Sterling Heights, passed away peacefully on April 18. Joseph was a man of faith. Guided by strong moral values, he was truly Christianity in action. He deeply loved and lived his Catholic faith. Joe quietly and humbly shared his time and talents with his community, especially at St. Bartholomew Church in Detroit and later at St. Anne Parish in Warren. Joseph was fun and funny. He loved to laugh. He enjoyed a good joke and was always ready with a quick pun or funny quip. He spread a lot of joy and brought smiles to many during his long life. Above all, Joseph’s life was defined by his love for family. He was a devoted son, a loving husband to Victoria, his wife of 67 years, and a cherished role model to his children and grandchildren. Joseph was born on March 3, 1927 in Hamtramck to Magdalena (Strzalka) and Anthony. His high school education at St. Ladislaus was completed after serving in the Navy at the end of World War II. Later, he graduated from the University of Detroit, earning his degree in accounting after eight years of night school classes. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1989. Joseph was pre-deceased by his wife Victoria and his grandson Noah Niedbala. He is survived by his older brother Ted who sat by Joey’s side during his final days. Also surviving are his children Gerard (Nadine Stachura), Katherine (Myles) Conway, Martin (Deborah), Monica (James) Szymusiak, Grace (Robert) McKeel, and Mary Lou (Timothy) Noble; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, including Caleb Louis Smerczak born on April 14; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the staff of Pomeroy Living in Sterling Heights for their affectionate and dedicated care of Joseph, Victoria, and Ted.
