Richard Gietzen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Richard Gietzen passed away on July 27, 2022, at the age of 79. Born and raised in Detroit, Rich never strayed far from his childhood home when choosing a place to live. His last address was in Warren, Michigan, where he felt very much at home. Rich loved and enjoyed visiting his large family throughout his life. He was the baby boy of his ten siblings and was a source of many antics and much laughter. He married in his young twenties and welcomed three daughters. Those daughters went on to make him a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren. Every year, Christmas with Rich G was always a highlight. Rich’s life was changed in his early adulthood and he in turn went on to change the lives of others as a friend to Bill and Bob for 43 years. He did this not just in sharing his own life experiences and being a mentor, but because he never met a stranger. His funny, kind, endearing personality was loved by many. He valued everyone he met and greeted them with respect and kindness. In short, he was a genuinely good guy. Richard was the beloved father of three daughters Elizabeth (Valentino) Fischione, Jennifer (Eric) Herman and Ericka (Todd) Nicol. Proud grandfather to Angelina and Luke Fischione, Noah and Emma Herman and Benjamin, Megan & Aidan Nicol. Son of the late Joseph and the late Irene Gietzen. Brother of the late Rita (Harold) Dumas, the late Joseph (Marion) Gietzen, the late Elmer(Millie) Gietzen, the late Dorothy (Foster) Brower, the late Raymond (Margaret) Gietzen, the late Marian (Robert) Lefevre, Evelyn (Donald) Bols, the late Lorraine (Andrew) Derylo, and the late Janet Gietzen. Rich G was greatly loved and will be missed by many. Funeral Arrangements are as follows: August 8, 2022 9 a.m. Visitation at St Mary Our Lady Queen of Families(St. Clement) 25252 Van Dyke Centerline, MI 48015 10 a.m. Mass Internment at St. Clement Cemetery Funeral Luncheon will follow
