Sylvia C. Maisonneuve
May 17, 1936 - February 7, 2022
Sylvia “Syl” Catherine Maisonneuve, 85, returned to Her heavenly home on February 7, 2022, after a valiant battle of pain and suffering. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God, supported her in her struggles and ultimately brought her peace. Sylvia was born to the late Alex and Angeline “Nana” Sokloski, in Detroit, Michigan on May 17, 1936. She married Ronald Arthur Maisonneuve on October 11, 1958. For sixty-three years they enjoyed travelling abroad, raising their two children Craig and Kim and taking memorable travel trailer camping trips with cousins to Disney World and the southern states. She enjoyed supporting Craig’s love for hockey attending many of his games and travel tournaments and attending Kim’s gymnastic, dance and piano recitals. Her ultimate joy was to attend her grandsons’ many extracurricular activities including hockey, soccer, golf and basketball. She was especially proud of her Polish heritage, food and family traditions of pierogi, kielbasa and sauerkraut. Sylvia is survived by her beloved husband Ronald Maisonneuve; son Craig (Carol) Maisonneuve; daughter Kim (John) LaFond; her three grandsons Daniel (Kelly) Maisonneuve, Matthew (fiancé Sarah Ottman) Maisonneuve, and Andre LaFond; her brother Rick (Vivian) Sokloski and sister Joanne (Jerry) Zyvon. Immediately following the mass there will be a luncheon held at Da Francesco’s Ristorante and Bar 49521 Van Dyke Avenue Shelby Township, Michigan 48317 Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at 11:15 a.m. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for the wonderful help and care of Troy Beaumont Hospital. They are amazing, caring people! To honor Sylvia, in lieu of flowers, we ask you to continue her support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to make a memorial donation in her name. She would really like that. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 48105 www.stjude.org
