Dennis H. Cavanaugh

Dennis H. Cavanaugh, age 88, passed away on June 12, 2026. Dennis was born on June 27, 1937 to Mae I. Cavanaugh and Dennis M. Cavanaugh. He is survived by his wife Linda (Ochoa) Cavanaugh and also by his step-children Samantha Larkins, Jason Larkins, Debbie (Dave) Nelson, Janet (John) Saari, and Mark (Stacie) Waschewski. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings Sharon (Chuck) Rogers, Brian (Debi) Cavanaugh, Ralph (Nancy) Cavanaugh, Kathleen White, and Cynthia White. He is also survived by Josephine Cavanaugh, Lorna Cavanaugh, and his many nieces and nephews. Dennis is preceded in death by his two wives, Carol (nee Kouba) Cavanaugh and Patricia (nee Waschewski) Cavanaugh. Additionally, he is preceded in death by two of his brothers, Bruce Cavanaugh and Paul Cavanaugh. Dennis worked for Ford Motor Company and retired early to become self-employed. He used this opportunity to help those immigrating from other countries to relocate to the United States. Dennis was a pillar of his community who consistently sought to help others. He was an active volunteer with the Detroit Institute of Arts and Karmanos Cancer Institute, and a philanthropist to many organizations, including, but not limited to: St. Jude Children's Hospital, Shriners, Leader Dogs for the Blind, and so many more. He was committed to helping his family and friends in any way that he could, and was known for his big heart and generosity. In lieu of flowers, Dennis' family requests donations to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Karmanos Cancer Institute. A memory sharing service will take place at Mandziuk & Son Funeral Directors of Sterling Heights on June 18, 2026, from 10:00AM to 11:30AM. A luncheon will follow at 12:00PM at Filippa's Italian Restaurant, located at 45125 Mound Rd, Shelby Township, MI 48317. Interment will follow at a later date.
