Robert Daniel Outland, age 84, passed away on January 6, 2026. Born January 14, 1941, in an apartment in Dearborn, Michigan to: the late Eulala (Hall) Outland (mother) and Lafayette Outland (father). Survived by his devoted wife Beverly Lou (Egeland) Outland married 64 years and their loving children Jeffrey Outland married to Theresa (Myziuk) Outland, Gregory Outland, Kelly (Outland) Savage married to Ralph Savage, Rodger Outland and fiancée Elizabeth Williams He was the proud grandfather of Karlee (Outland) Kehl married to Eric Kehl, Austin Outland, Joshua Outland married to Angela Outland, Erin (Savage) Verdi married to John Verdi and Jacob Savage married to Ashley Savage Great Grandfather to Sophia Kehl, Oliver Kehl, Henry Outland, Charles Outland Dear Uncle to Timothy Lawrence and Carole Brower He was preceded in death by his sister Juanita (Outland) Lawrence and her husband Carl Lawrence and nephews Ronald Lawrence, Michael Lawrence, Richard Lawrence, and Roger Lawrence Robert spent his first year of life living in Dearborn, Michigan, and then moved with his family to Murray Kentucky. He lived with his parents and sister and learned to drive a tractor at the age of 5 and helped his family on the farm while going to school. After the passing of his father, Robert and his mother moved to Detroit, Michigan where he graduated from Pershing High School in 1959. Robert spent the rest of his life residing in the Detroit Metro area where he and his wife Beverly lived in Clawson, Huntington Woods, Troy, and Sterling Heights, Michigan. Robert earned his Associate of Science from Baker College in 1993, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Baker College in 1998. Robert served at church for over 40 years with a variety of responsibilities: Church Treasurer, Youth Leader, taught Sunday School, Bus Ministry, Camp Counselor, Chairman of the Christian Education Board, member of the Board of Deacons, and Head Usher. Robert served in the community as a Reserved Police Officer in the city of Huntington Woods for 21 years and led Cub Scout troops and managed a men’s softball league. Robert worked for General Motors for 45 years which included a Joint Venture assignment to Shanghai China where he trained several engineering groups on prototype operations. He sold Insurance at Metropolitan Life for 2 years, and as a youth he was a newspaper carrier for the Detroit Times where he canvassed enough new subscriptions and earned 5 trips to New York (2 trips), Chicago (2 trips), and Washington DC. Robert completed his working career as a driver for Ed Rinke Chevrolet for 14 years. Robert enjoyed riding his dirt bike with his 3 boys in the Grayling/Gaylord area for many years. He also enjoyed traveling within the United States and abroad. Some of his most memorable trips included Spain, Bahamas, Hawaii, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mexico, Lake Tahoe, Camp Pendelton in California, Camp Lejeune in North Carolina and West Point, New York. In the last few years, Robert enjoyed some trips to The Ark Museum in northern Kentucky and in Michigan he went on a Pictured Rock Cruise, a couple of Lighthouse Cruises, as well as visiting Castle Rock, Kitchitikipi, Tahquamenon Falls, Sleeping Bear Dunes, the Sky Walk at Boyne Mountain, and the Lantern Festival in Grand Rapids, Michigan and most recent trip to Mount Vernon, Missouri to witness the wedding of his Grandson Jacob Savage. The family will greet friends at Mandziuk & Son Funeral Directors 3801 18 Mile Road, Sterling Heights on Monday, January 12th from 3:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral service Tuesday, January 13th at Woodside Bible Church 6600 Rochester Road, Troy, MI 48085.Visitation at 10:00am, Service at 11:00am with a luncheon to follow.
