Rose Horak

“Grandma“ Rose was the daughter of United States Immigrants: Leonardo Spaccavento (Molfetta, Apulia, Italy), and Angela Cubero y Hernandez (Caimatel Bajo, Aguadilla Pueblo, Puerto Rico). She was a child of the 1st generation born in the USA. Rose was lovingly dedicated to and focused on; family, children, and grandchildren. She is survived by her sons; James (Marie), Michael (Michelle) Richard (Janel), her grandchildren; Josiane Horak (Robert Ross), Joseph Horak (Emily Strouse), Danielle Horak ( fiancé Nick Wilmot), Susan (Alex) Kramer, Emily (Chris) Williams, her first cousins; John Kiang y Cubero, Ana Negron y Cubero, Enza Coppolecchia y Spaccavento, Anthony Cermeli y Cubero, Robert Cermeli y Cubero, David Cermeli y Cubero, and Antonia Corbet y Cubero, and her nieces and nephews; Paul and Joan Rufa, Linda and John Weber, Robert Rufa, Patricia and Phillip Houle, Rose and Terry Perkins, Thomas and Sara Teeling, Kathy and Jerry Przybyla, Sharon and Daniel Supple. Plus a close family in the United States, Italy, and Puerto Rico. She is preceded in death by her loving husband: Richard (2006), her beloved sister Vinnie (2017) and brother in law Peter Rufa (2022). Rose was a graduate of Lafayette High School in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn New York and studied at Golden West College Huntington Beach California. She retired from Hawthorne California Fire Department, and Orange County Water California Authority. Rose enjoyed family gatherings, family history & genealogy, NY Times Crosswords, dominoes, bingo, and traveling around the world. As a religious woman she belonged to different parishes throughout her life, St. Finbar Catholic Church of Brooklyn New York, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, of Fountain Valley, California, and St Jane Frances De Chantal of Sterling Heights Michigan. Memorial Service at Our Lady of Redemption Greek Catholic Church, 29293 Lorraine Street, Warren Michigan 48093 11:00 AM, Sunday October 8 2023 In lieu of flowers, charitable donations to Caritas or Doctors without Borders would be appreciated by Rose’s family.
