William Joseph "Mr. Bill" Amsdill January 11, 1957—August 19, 2026 William Joseph Amsdill, affectionately known by so many as "Mr. Bill," passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, at the age of 69, following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born on January 11, 1957, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Nelson and Josephine Amsdill, Bill later resided in Warren and made his home in Clinton Township, Michigan. Mr. Bill spent much of his life doing what he loved. As the owner of an automotive repair business specializing in classic cars, his passion for automobiles was far more than a profession—it was a part of who he was. Whether he was working on a classic car, attending a car show, enjoying the excitement of drag racing or on the rare occasions of singing karaoke to his favorite song, Mustang Sally after a few Bailey and Diet Cokes, Bill was happiest around cars and the people who shared his enthusiasm. If there was a car show nearby, there was a good chance you could find Mr. Bill there. As much as Bill loved cars, nothing compared to the love he had for his family and friends. Bill was a strong and caring man with a generous heart. He was the kind of person who would help someone without a second thought and without expecting anything in return. He was loved by many because he gave people so many reasons to love him. His strength, kindness, generosity, friendship, and willingness to be there when someone needed him are among the many things that will be remembered about Mr. Bill. At the center of Bill's life was his wife of 30 years and the love of his life, Kathy Amsdill. Together they shared a life, a family, and countless memories that Kathy will forever carry with her. Bill was a loving father to his daughter, Kimberly Bissonnette and to his son, James Longbrake. He was also the proud and loving grandfather of Emileigh, Jack, and Sophie, who were truly the light of his life. Spending time with his family and friends brought Bill tremendous happiness, and the memories they made together will continue to keep his spirit close. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; his children, Kimberly (Edward) and James; his grandchildren, Emileigh, Jack, and Sophie; his four sisters, Janet, Judy, JoAnn and Katherine; his brother, James and their spouses; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Josephine Amsdill. Mr. Bill leaves behind far more than the cars he repaired or the stripes he left on the pavement. He leaves behind a family who adored him and friends who will never forget him. After fighting cancer with courage for two years, Bill's family finds comfort in the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful." Funeral Services Funeral arrangements will be held at E.J. Mandziuk & Son Funeral Directors, located at 3801 18 Mile Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan 48314. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bill's memory to support the fight against esophageal cancer through The American Cancer Society. Mr. Bill will be deeply missed, but the love he gave, the people he helped, the family he cherished, and the memories he created will live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known him. Rest peacefully, Mr. Bill. You fought the good fight, you finished the race, and you will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved you.
